How it began . . .

I started the Love Network in March 2024 as an “antidote” to the sadness I’d been feeling about all the discord in the world. It was seriously starting to get me down, so I decided to do something about it. My intention was to start focusing on the good in the world and see love wherever I went. I had no idea what to do; I just knew it was time to do something.

Well, while I was doing a meditation one night, it came to me that the antidote to stress, strife, sadness, anger, judgment, fear—and the whole gamut of emotions I was feeling every time I turned on the news—is LOVE. Love, and only love, is the answer and the antidote. Love cures all; love heals.

So, I decided to create a Love Network! I didn’t know how long it would last or how far it would reach, but the thought of it made my heart sing, so I went for it. I started giving away little rose-quartz hearts along with some cards I created by hand. At first, I was making the cards on my computer, printing them, and then cutting them out one by one. However, after I had given away my first 40 hearts, I realized I needed to streamline my operation! So, I designed a two-sided postcard and had it printed professionally. I also created a smaller card to go with the rose-quartz heart that I put inside each organza bag.

I began this project on March 8, 2024. Ten months later, with the help of some very special friends and my dear cousin Jodi, I had given out nearly 600 hearts to people in 30 states and 16 countries—and those numbers just keep on growing.

Though I don’t know where every heart ends up and what happens after people give and receive them, I can say it’s been fun, heartwarming, and so rewarding—and sometimes, downright surprising—to witness so many acts of kindness as the Love Network expands.

I could share so many experiences . . . from friendly strangers talking to me while I’m out and about (the unsolicited compliments are especially nice 😄) . . . to someone letting me go ahead of her in a long line at the post office . . . to store employees gifting me extra discounts and free merchandise . . . to friends (and friends of friends) sending me beautiful letters and texts . . . to other friends asking for more hearts that they can give away . . . to my cousin Jodi writing about my project in her blog . . . to a few people making monetary donations to help me keep the Love Network going! It’s all been wonderful! I’m feeling truly blessed and heartened to see love wherever I go . . . And that brings me right back to what I heard during my meditation: only love is the answer; only love is the cure . . . And as I have come to experience, the fastest way to change the state of the world is to change my state of mind.
